Choir / Altar Servers / Readers

Choir Director: Steve Danko

Tonsured Readers: Andy Cap, Nathan Mathewson

Adult Altar Servers: Jesse Mathewson

Purpose: With the bishop and parish priest to lead the whole of the people humbly, beautifully, and clearly into true worship and true thanksgiving in the Spirit.

As a member of the choir, one must take his or her responsibility seriously before the Lord. Attentiveness and punctuality are very important. The message of the hymnography is the message of the gospel and is proclaiming the Word of Life. With the priest, the choir leads the whole of the people into worship, into true thanksgiving—Eucharist. This is where we meet God Himself and is why the priest warns every communicant before the Gifts by saying –“Let us stand aright! Let us stand with fear. Let us attend, that we may offer the holy offering in peace." So, the choir must at all times be about making a sacrificial offering in peace.

"So the two thanksgiving choirs stood in the house of God, likewise I and the half of the rulers with me; and the priests…, with trumpets; also…the singers sang loudly with … the director.  Also that day they offered great sacrifices, and rejoiced, for God had made them rejoice with great joy; the women and the children also rejoiced, so that the joy of Jerusalem was heard afar off."  Nehemiah 12:40-43
