ORTHODOX EDUCATION TEAM
“Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one! You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. “And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.
Let my teaching drop as the rain,
My speech distill as the dew,
As raindrops on the tender herb,
And as showers on the grass.
For I proclaim the name of the Lord:
Ascribe greatness to our God.
He is the Rock, His work is perfect;
For all His ways are justice,
A God of truth and without injustice;
Righteous and upright is He.
1 Thess. 2:15
Therefore, brethren, stand fast and hold the traditions, which you were taught, whether by word or our epistle.
“Of all the holy works the education of children is the most holy” – St. Theophan the Recluse
Purpose: To offer an Orthodox Education to all members of the parish.
All parish education is overseen by the parish priest. The priest appoints a qualified Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Director (CGS) on a 2 year min. term. Other team members include the other Atrium Level Presenters as appointed by the parish priest and CGS director. All presenters and helpers must have a Volunteer background check.
The Sts. Peter and Paul education paradigm is based on Catechesis of the Good Shepherd curriculum for all ages. CGS is a holistic education of spirit, mind and body. It encourages self-awareness and approaching God with a sense of honor and wonder, while at the same time imparting the teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ about himself and how to live as his Holy Church. This approach also directs the participants to discover the richness of the Divine Liturgy and the order and joy of our Orthodox worship to the Holy Trinity as the Body of Christ.
The Parish bookstore and Parish library are also overseen by this team. The bookstore manager appointed by the parish priest and education team will work with the parish treasurer on a budget and all donations and exchange of books, and other related items carried in the store. The Library is directed by the Priest and the bookstore manager. The Library and Bookstore assist in our OET.
