Great Blessing of Waters

This years Great Blessing of Waters in Edinboro and Meadville will take place during the month of January by Fr. Daniel Mathewson of Saints Peter and Paul Orthodox Church. Orthodox Christianity teaches that the Great Blessing of Waters on the Feast of Theophany (Epiphany) actually changes the nature of the water, and that water so blessed is no longer corruptible, but remains fresh for many years.

Drinking water will be blessed in the church at 25636 N. Mosiertown Rd. in Edinboro during the Great Vespers service on Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at 6pm and Divine Liturgy on Thursday, January 6, 2022 at 9:30am. Please bring your own container to fill.

Immediately following the service, Cussewago Creek on Crossingville Rd. will be blessed at 11am.
Edinboro Lake at Mike Onda Beach will be blessed on Sunday, January 16th at 1:30pm and French Creek at Bicentennial Park will be blessed on Sunday, January 23rd at 1:30pm.

If parishioners would like their homes blessed, please schedule a date and time with Fr. Daniel before the beginning of Great Lent.

All are welcome to join in the Great Blessing of Waters!
